The Placebo Effect Or The Nocebo Effect?
The placebo effect and the not as widely publicized or recognized nocebo effect provide another avenue of validating the power of faith or belief as they pertain to the events, conditions, and circumstances in your life from a physically validated perspective.
Placebo : from the Latin : "I shall please"
Nocebo : from the Latin : "I will harm"
How is it that the physiological results realized by what modern day medicine calls placebo's and/or nocebo's are experienced?
What is it that enables the placebo effect to exist?
Faith or belief plain and simple.
It exists because the mind takes on the belief that what the placebo medication or procedure provided is intended to treat the ailment although it isn't really medication or a valid procedure at all. It is merely a "belief" that it is. Only a belief. Only a perception. Only a conscious form of thought or consciousness which creates the healing in the body.
This clearly shows the power of the mind, more specifically the power of thought or belief in determining physical outcomes even in the case of restoring and maintaining our physiological health.
It initiates the healing within the body. It instructs and tells the body what to do to heal.
Point being...the body has the ability to heal itself. It's only your belief concerning what's happening that determines what happens.
Regardless if it is in modern day medicine or any other area of your life, both the placebo effect and nocebo effect are apparent and obvious. So many believe that it takes something external to themselves to create an event, condition or circumstance in their lives. It doesn't. Only a belief.
In the case of the placebo effect it is a belief that a positive physiological outcome will be experienced. In the case of the nocebo effect it is a belief that a negative physiological outcome will occur.
Just as in any other area of life, whatever is believed happens.

Well over forty years ago, a Seattle cardiologist named Leonard Cobb conducted a unique trial of a procedure then commonly used for angina, in which doctors made small incisions in the chest and tied knots in two arteries to try to increase blood flow to the heart.
It was a popular technique -- 90 percent of patients reported that it helped -- but when Cobb compared it with placebo surgery in which he made incisions but did not tie off the arteries, the sham operations proved just as successful.
The procedure, known as internal mammary ligation, was soon abandoned. (Source - "The Placebo Prescription" by Margaret Talbot, New York Times Magazine, January 9, 2000)
Successful in 90% of the cases, yet nothing was actually done although it was "believed" by the patient to have been done.
It was a physiological manifestation based on a belief or faith in what was "perceived" by the patient to have been done.
There are a number of other experiments that have been done as well such as "perceived" knee surgeries etc. that point to the same conclusion.
The Nocebo Effect
Although the placebo effect is rather well documented and known by most there is another effect which isn't nearly as well known which is the polar opposite of the placebo effect and is known as the nocebo effect.
The word nocebo comes from the Latin meaning "I will harm."
Sixteen years ago, researchers stumbled onto a striking finding which is now referred to as the nocebo effect. This finding concluded that women who believed that they were prone to heart disease were nearly four times as likely to die as women with similar risk factors who didn't hold such fatalistic views.
The higher risk of death, in other words, had nothing to with the usual heart disease culprits -- age, blood pressure, cholesterol, weight. Instead, it tracked closely with belief.
In other words NOCEBOS, unlike the healing properties of PLACEBOS point to the Real Cause of illness and disease…
"Think sick, be sick."
It's no different with the rest of your life. It doesn't matter what area of life it is, whether physical, financial, relational, emotional or spiritual, it is only your perception, your belief, your thoughts concerning what will be created and experienced within each and every area of your life based on what you think and believe that it will. As a result, that is precisely what is created.
In the case of the Placebo effect, the physical manifestation exists as healing of the body. In the case of the nocebo effect the physical manifestation of illness occurs.
Does it matter why? Not to me. What matters to me is that it happens. What matters most to me is the fact that it brings it into the physical realm and produces what is perceived as a positive or a negative result.
In reality, there is no positive or negative only your perception of such. The underlying reality is that everything just is and will unfold just as you believe it will. The physical outcome is made possible only due to what you believe it to be. It is constructed and experienced precisely as YOU believe that it will be.
Possibility and potential is limited only by YOUR ability and willingness to internalize and BELIEVE that it is possible in ANY area of your life whether it be from a medical perspective or ANY other area of life.
Let's look at it from a physical perspective as it relates to the events, conditions and circumstances in your day to day life…
Do you have the "lack of money" virus? It is merely a filter created by a belief or perception with regard to money.
Do you suffer from "unfulfilling relationship" syndrome? It is merely a filter created by a belief or perception you hold with regard to relationships.
Do you have the "I feel like hell" outbreak? Believe that you do and you will. Shift the thought and perception about how you feel and you will feel differently.
I AM can act as your placebo or your nocebo. What follows I AM with heartfelt conviction and strong emotion attached is what you will experience. It doesn't require anything external to you, only the inner belief that follows I AM.
I AM broke is a nocebo which creates being broke. Want to stop being broke? Make the internal shift and begin utilizing the placebo I AM wealthy.
Do you have a desire to create more money in your life? Believe you can and you will.
Do you have a desire to experience optimum health throughout your body? Believe you can and you will.
Induce faith and belief in the placebo and it will change. It must….It's the law.
The mind is the medicine or the infector. The mind can be used as the cure or the cause. You get to choose. There are those who unconsciously allow their mind to control them and there are those who make the conscious choice to take control of and direct their mind.
Whatever is happening in your life is happening because at some level you believe it will plain and simple. You are at cause. Your belief is your placebo or nocebo. What you have faith in is your placebo or nocebo. Change the placebo or nocebo and you'll change your physical existence.
There is nothing external to you that is required to experience whatever you may have a desire to experience in your life. It's within you already. You get to choose. Just find it. Whether you currently believe it or not is merely a choice, a perception, a belief that will with unwavering certainty manifest just as you have faith that it will.
That's your choice.
Whatever choices you might choose today or in the future it's our sincere and heartfelt hope that those choices might lead you one step closer to experiencing a life filled with unbridled Joy, Fulfillment, Inner Peace and Limitless Prosperity in each and every area of your life.
